SGRM :: About Sports Goods Raw Material & Machinery Expo
About the Jalandhar Sports Goods Cluster:
The origin of the
Jalandhar sports goods cluster can be traced back to Sialkot (now in Pakistan) that was the sports goods production centre in India’s pre-partition days. The Jalandhar Cluster is a unique example of a transplanted cluster, where a major segment (entrepreneurs, workers) of an existing cluster shifted to a new location due to political division of India in the year 1947. The items taken for manufacturing in the beginning were tennis, football, cricket bats, balls, field hockey, etc, with the passage of time new items were added, however, these items continue to have a stronghold. Jalandhar Sports Goods Cluster for over 120 years of existence.
Jalandhar the Venue
Jalandhar being the hub of sporting goods manufacturing units which alone has 1000 plus
enterprises manufacturing various sports goods & equipments and is also the largest consumer of targeted
raw Material makes it favourite destination for suppliers, apart from that its proximity with Meerut (another major hub of sporting goods in India) , Luhdiana (most promising industrial belt of India) and Delhi (National capital of India & center of all business activities) makes Jallandhar most appropriate venue for this event.
